2020 Census of Threatened and Endangered Buntings

Yellow-breasted Bunting (YBB) Emberiza aureola population at Muraviovka Park dropped significantly since 1980s but is still doing better than in many other parts of its breeding range. In 2017, a team of researchers under the leadership of Wieland Heim conducted mapping of the species habitat using remote sensing and point count data and estimated YBB population at the Park as 706 territorial males (R. Richter, et al., 2020, Remote Sensing).

The number of YBB is declining so fast that we need to regularly monitor the situation.

The Park will provide lodging for researchers, as well as letter of visa support.
